Ebook Help

Downloading & accessing your eBook:

The eBooks available to purchase on our website come in different formats. Please note that if you wish to read an eBook on your Kindle device or Kindle app, you will need to purchase and download a MOBI format. For all other scenarios, you need the EPUB format.

To read on a Mac or PC screen (desktop or laptop computer):

  1. Our ePUBs are copy-protected (using Adobe Content Server), so to read them, you will need to create an Adobe ID (if you don't have one already), download Adobe Digital Editions to open your protected files, and it then authorises your reader with your Adobe ID. After you purchase an eBook you will receive an email confirming your order which contains a link to your eLibrary, where you can download your eBook on to your computer or other device. If you miss this email, you can go to the site and log into your account and click on My eLibrary to see your ebook purchases. You have up to 5 downloads per eBook purchased.
  2. But first, download and install Adobe Digital Editions: https://www.adobe.com/uk/solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html - make sure you choose to ‘Download Digital Edition’ for either Mac or PC, depending on which you’re using. Adobe may ask you to create an Adobe ID if you don’t already have one.
  3. Go to the link in your order confirmation email or in ‘my eLibrary’ in your account on our website.
  4. Select EPUB as the file type and download the file. The file will download to your desktop or you have the option to save it elsewhere.
  5. The file you download will be a file called an UrlLink.acsm file that you should open in Adobe Digital Editions. Your license will then be verified, and your eBook will be downloaded.
  6. Browse to the EPUB file you downloaded and add it. With Adobe Digital Editions open, choose File > Add to Library.
  7. Double click the file in your library to open it and read within Adobe Digital Editions.

To read on a Kindle

  1. You will need to add the file to your Kindle by dragging and dropping from a PC or Mac to your Kindle which is connected by cable.
  2. Go to your order confirmation email which contains a download link, or login to your account on our website where you will find the link to the ebook you have purchased under ‘my eLibrary’.
  3. Select MOBI as the file type and download it.
  4. The file will download to your desktop or you have the option to save it elsewhere.
  5. Using your Kindle’s USB cable, attach it to your computer.
  6. Find the MOBI file you saved in step 3 and drag-and-drop it into the Documents folder of your Kindle on the right-hand side. Wait for the file to transfer and safely eject the device from your computer. Open the Kindle app and the MOBI file should appear on the app's Device Library screen.
  7. Kindle devices and Kindle apps should sync automatically so the file should also appear in the Kindle app on your phone or tablet.

To read on the Kindle app on a phone or tablet if you don’t have a Kindle device

  1. You will need to add the file to your Kindle app by downloading it to a PC or Mac then sending it to the Kindle app.
  2. Go to your order confirmation email which contains a download link, or login to your account on our website where you will find the link to the ebook you have purchased under ‘my eLibrary’.
  3. Select MOBI as the file type and download the file.
  4. The file will download to your desktop or you have the option to save it elsewhere.
  5. Usually you can email the file to the address associated with your Kindle account unless your file is a large file and there’s a 50MB limit imposed by Amazon – and most email accounts impose a maximum attachment size of less than that. So you will need to use a workaround. This is Amazon’s Send to Kindle app. There’s a PC version https://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle/pc/?tag=eflyus-20 and a Mac version. https://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle/mac?tag=eflyus-20
  6. Once you have downloaded and installed the right version for your PC or Mac, you then open it, drag the MOBI file you downloaded into the TITLE window of the Send to Mac software, choose where you want it delivered to (eg My Kindle or My Android phone – these names are the names you assigned your devices in your Kindle account). Then click Send.
  7. Files over 50MB (usually only those with lots of embedded pictures) are too large to sync because Amazon applies a 50MB limit on Cloud synchronisation. So you will need to Send to Kindle for each device.
